Meet the Author - Donna Arsenault Bryant

  • Name a book or series that you can re-read again and again.

    --Stephen King's The Stand

Name an author whose book you could never NOT buy.

    --Stephen King for one.

What was the first book or author that made you want to write?

--Edgar Allan Poe and the poem The Raven was what did it for me.

What's your favorite movie based on a book?

--The Stand based on the same named book by Stephen King but this is a tie with Shawshank Redemption and Lord of the Rings.

Where do you do most of your writing?

--If I can, in my living room in my recliner as it is more comfortable. If I can't focus there, then at my pc in the pc room.

Where/When do you find you are most creative?

--Normally early in the day as evening is just not good for me for writing as I'm too tired. I really need to see the book in my mind while writing or it comes out plain.

Name one TV show/movie universe you would want to live in.

--Well Stargate Atlantis was one of my faves and I think it would be so interesting to go there.

Name one book/comic universe you would want to live in.

--I don't read comics much at all so I have no clue. For a book, I read horror mainly so gee none of that. Perhaps in the Hobbit world. They had elves. Elves kick ass!

You're on a deserted island. If your Ipod was limited to one song, what would it be?

--Well I don't listen to music much anymore but the theme to gilligan's island....(jk lmao) I guess it would be my daughter's song The Patio .

You're writing on a deadline, what is your drink of choice?

    --Koolaid

What fictional character would you most like to meet?

--Perhaps Nicholas Flamel from Michael Scott's The Sorceress

What fictional character are you most like?

--Perhaps Anne. "Anne is described as bright and quick, eager to please, talkative, and extremely imaginative. ....domestic mishaps such as dyeing her hair green (while intending to dye it black) or accidentally getting Diana drunk (by giving her what she thinks is raspberry cordial but is currant wine)." I like to think I'm smart and imaginitive. I also make "Lucy (I Love Lucy's Lucille Ball)" sort of mistakes.

What author do you avoid reading and why?

--I don't have a particular one. Just Romance in general. I find it frustrating and too unreal. Horror is more real...

Are you afraid of the dark?

--Only if I watch the original, The Fog or Salem's Lot

One quote from a book that would best describe you

--“Oh, it's delightful to have ambitions. I'm so glad I have such a lot. And there never seems to be any end to them-- that's the best of it. Just as soon as you attain to one ambition you see another one glittering higher up still. It does make life so interesting.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

    Worst quote from a book.

--I had to google for one. Wasn't hard to find a bunch. I've not read Fifty Shades of Grey but this line is horrible. "His lips are parted - he's waiting, coiled to strike. Desire- acute, liquid and smoldering, combusts deep in my belly." That sounds like she has IBS and is about to explode with gas.

    Best quote from a book.

--“If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.” ~Stephen King, On Writing, a Memoir of the Craft

    Worst book you ever read.

--Suffer the Children by John Saul. I liked it at the time but rereading it I find it not very good.

If you could have an animal sidekick, real or imaginary, what would it be?

--I would have my Sammy back. A beautiful medium-long haired black cat.

What is the project you are currently working on?

--I have three. The Key, Isle of Dolls and Curakan among other small stuff.
